Decal Application
Applying a Car Window Decal – Detailed Guide
Thank you for choosing a decal from lowclassica! Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to properly apply your car window decal for the best results:
- Choose Inside or Outside:
You have the option to apply your decal either inside or outside of the car window, depending on your preference. However, please note that for a clearer and brighter appearance, we recommend applying the decal on the outside.
- Clean the Surface:
Before applying the decal, ensure the chosen area is clean and dry. Use a mild window cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to remove any dirt, dust, or residue from the surface. Allow it to dry completely.
- Positioning:
Carefully decide where you want to place the decal. Take your time to ensure it’s positioned exactly as you desire. Use a piece of low-tack painter’s tape to temporarily hold it in place if needed.
- Peel and Apply:
a. Gently peel off the backing paper from the decal, starting from one corner. Take extra care not to touch the adhesive side with your fingers to avoid leaving fingerprints or transferring oils.
b. Align the exposed adhesive side of the decal with your chosen position on the window. Begin by attaching one edge or corner of the decal to the window surface. This initial attachment will serve as your anchor point.
c. Slowly and evenly press the decal onto the window, working from the anchored point towards the opposite edge or corner. Use a gentle but firm touch, ensuring that the decal adheres smoothly and without any air bubbles.
d. If air bubbles do form, gently lift the affected area and reapply, smoothing out the decal as you go. You can use a credit card or plastic squeegee to help with this process.
- Remove Transfer Tape:
Once the decal is securely applied to the window, carefully peel off the transfer tape at a sharp angle. This should leave the decal adhered to the window while removing the transfer tape.
- Maintenance and Caution:
Avoid placing decals near windscreen wipers as these may damage the decal.
When cleaning your vehicle, be gentle around the decal to avoid damaging it. Do not pressure wash the decal, as this will damage it and may cause it to detach from the applied surface.
